Want to dream, positively?

October 31, 2016

I read a good article written by fellow coach Jaemin Frazer, on how good coaches hold the space for client self-exploration in a judgement-free environment. These days, few afford themselves the opportunity of thinking out loud, and sharing their innermost dreams, concerns and interests with a confidant, a.k.a. coach. By not doing so they are not recognizing the inherent possibilities that lie within. I turned some of the points around, and added others, to hopefully make them client-facing tips for the day. Enjoy.

  • You are your results. You are not a victim, and while blame and excuse is natural and enjoyable, it gives you no power to change your situation.

  • State of mind is paramount for developing high performance. If you can control your state, you can control your outcomes.

  • Being precedes doing. Who do you need to be to achieve your desired outcome? You can show up in the world as whoever you want to be.

  • Separate behavior from intention. You are not your behavior. Every negative behavior has a “positive intention”, and it is always about meeting a core, value driven, need.

  • Develop a sense of awareness. If you can’t see it, you can’t change it.

  • Most of the obstacles that you face are internal, not external. Let go of old, tired out, internal beliefs (obstacles) that aren’t working for you, and replace them with new beliefs. Then take 100% ownership.

  • Every issue in your life ultimately comes back to a limiting belief about self.

  • Everything you complain about or tolerate but do not change must be working for you.

  • Engage your subconscious and have great rapport with yourself. Sustainable change comes when you work with yourself, rather than having internal battles.

Genuine client transformation is all about creating agreement and alignment between their conscious and subconscious. Like most other helping professions however, none of this works if the client is not open for change. If you or your business identifies with the points above and is ready for change, we have a special offer for you!
